Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins on Sunday missed the final play of his first NFL win for some weird reason. It is reported that Haskins was taking selfies with his fans. Haskins got selected as the No. 15 overall in NFL Draft 2019. He had begun to interact with his supporters at the FedExField just after Detroit Lions quarterback Jeff Driskel made a costly interception with only eight seconds left in the fourth quarter. The first-year signal-caller missed the final snap to close the game due to his negligence, for he was giving high fives and taking selfies. Backup quarterback Case Keenum was subbed in for the last kneel in the 19-16 win, which is the second victory at home all season.

At the post-game press conference, Washington coach Bill Callahan said that he was not going to laugh at this incident. He said in the meeting that they were looking for Haskins. Haskins might have thought the game was over. The coach added that he would look into the matter. Haskins did not have a quiet afternoon overall in his third NFL start. He completed only 13 of 29 passes for 156 yards, but he did not fail to lead Washington down the field for a go-ahead field goal. Haskins confessed that after the team grabbed an interception in the closing seconds, he was genuinely caught up in a moment with fans. He added, “I was so hyped.” He said that he broke a water bottle and looked up to find them in a victory formation. Many social media users slammed Haskins. Legendary Washington quarterback Joe Theismann had slammed Haskins on Twitter asking that how did he miss the last snap of a game just for selfies. It is a very unprofessional and careless act, he said.

Nevertheless, after all these, Haskins was defended by his fans. The fan who took one of the selfies defended and appreciated him at the same time for his warm gesture. He told that this being his first win outside college and also being so young, such an act is entirely within the lines of what you would expect for him to feel and how he should act. He added that it just shows that Dwayne is very in touch with his fans.
